I found my way to massage therapy a little later than some people.

My previous job had been eliminated and I was having trouble finding a full time job. It seemed like my age and education were holding me back instead of helping me. Eventually my mom asked me what I would do if I could go back to school and do anything. My first response was, I've been through college and I don't want to go back. When I took time to think about it, however, I started thinking about how my niece would always sit down in front of me at family gatherings and want me to massage her head and neck. Then I remembered her telling me that I should do that, massage, for real because I was good at it. Recalling my own experience with getting massages, I decided that doing something that left someone feeling that good would be a wonderful thing to do.
So, I searched for a massage therapy school close to home, enrolled and I have never looked back.
I attended Heritage College in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated in March 2013. I took and passed my licensing exam in April, 2013.
I love what I do. Every other job I ever had I used to wake up and think, "I don't wanna go to work." I haven't thought that once since I became a licensed massage therapist. Okay, well, maybe I thought that once, but there was a foot of snow outside and it had more to do with the snow than with giving massages.
Clients ask me if I get tired after a day of massages and the truth is that once in a while I do, but for the most part I am energized and accomplished. I like being able to help people feel better, to know that when they leave my table they are feeling better than when they came in.
I am currently practicing out of my home in Marion, Ohio. I offer Swedish and Deep Tissue massage, with the availability of aromatherapy oil and hot towels at an additional charge. I don't specialize in any one form of massage but use bits and pieces of different techniques (NMT, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point) to create a massage unique to each client.
I believe massage is good for the mind, body and soul. I also believe that regular massage (monthly or bi-monthly) can do a world of good for everyone. I don't believe that every massage has to be a deep tissue massage, sometimes we just need a little relaxation. I believe every type of massage is beneficial and worthy of practicing.
When I'm not working, I enjoy reading and writing. I like to walk outside for exercise and takes photographs of interesting things that catch my eye.
