Following two car accidents, I was told that, basically, my life as a highly active person was done. At the time of the second accident, I was an avid weight lifter who was also training for a marathon. Like a lot of people, I also had a full-time job and a young child to chase after. I refused to listen to the naysayers and continued to train and live through the pain (which, of course, was not pleasant and truly annoying) until I discovered massage therapy.
It took almost a year, but I was amazed by what massage therapy did to help me recover from my injuries and get back to doing my favorite activities. I was so amazed, in fact, that I chose to become a massage therapist. Professional athletes don't need to give up what they do because of injuries, so why should you have to give up your favorite activities (due to injuries, stress, lifestyle or whatever has made it harder for you to carry on like you "used to do")? No one should have to suffer just because they aren't famous and catered to. You deserve to be what you were before whatever happened that changed it. You deserve to be what you want to continue to be... you.
My goal is to show people the power that massage has in helping reduce (and sometimes eliminate) aches and pains from structural asymmetry, injuries, sports, life-style choices, and the day-to-day stressors that cause those aches and pains in your "neck, low back, shoulders..." Massages can serve many purposes and are not just a "relaxing" thing to do, though sometimes it's the only time a person does get to relax, which is definitely not a bad thing!
My primary work is done through structural integration, trigger point therapy, sports, and injury massages... I will also release those pesky clenched jaw muscles. Yes, I am able to provide swedish and deep swedish (a.k.a. deep tissue) work and they are usually combined with one of the aforementioned modalites. If it's just relaxation you want without any "bells and whistles," I also provide a swedish-only session. If you are looking for a spa type of massage with seaweed and chocolate, you probably won't be completely satisfied with your session, but don't worry. There are plenty of spas out there that will be happy to and great at providing that type of session.
If you are looking for the type of massage that is stereotypical of the word, "masseuse," and all of the un"happy" jokes floating around, you definitely won't be happy.
If you are feeling any type of pain - moderate to severe - and/or can't do the things you "used to do" in your daily routine, then I encourage you to try one of my sessions. Call, email, or schedule your appointment online today. You owe it to yourself... and you won't regret your decision to become a "new" you.
