My dad got me started in massage therapy when I was a little girl. He was an electrician. When he'd come home with sore muscles from pulling wire all day he'd ask me to rub his hands, arms & shoulders. During a massage for pain between my shoulder blades, as a result of sitting at a computer all day, it occurred to me that I could be a massage therapist! I was tired of sitting so much for my work & knew I had to get off my rear, literally, and do something different. Massage was the something different & since I became a massage therapist I've never looked back! My main focus is medical massage but I still do a few relaxing modalities. Medical massage is focused on areas of the body as specified in a prescription from a physician. Medical massage can involve several different types of soft tissue adjusting. I'm also certified in The Whalen Method of Neuromuscular Reeducation. I've attended three Neuromuscular Reeducation seminars conducted by Peter Levy, DC & recently received my certification as a Medical Massage Therapist through LMT Success Group. I hold licenses in both Louisiana & Colorado. If your problem is soft tissue, I can fix it! As a result of my diverse professional background I can relate to how jobs today cause chronic pain. Two years driving for UPS I know what it is like to run/walk all day long, lift heavy objects, work in extreme temperatures under different environmental conditions all while maintaining a professional and courteous attitude. UPS says that they will teach you to work at a pace that is incomprehensible to other people and they do just that! Twelve years in orthodontics introduced me to what it's like to be bent over patients one after another all day long and have to do very precise meticulous work at an orthodontic lab bench making appliances. Another twelve years of technical support, sitting in front of a computer for up to 12 hours in a shift, taught me that sitting for so long has its own special set of chronic problems! There can't be too many professions out there that I am unable to relate to the pain that they can cause!

6/2015, Certified by LMT Success Group. Week long intense medical massage training on the neck, back, upper and lower extremities.
5/2015, Certified in The Whalen Method of Neuromuscular Reeducation by Freda Whalen. This modality utilizes the wooden massage tool, the Knobble, to deliver precise trigger point therapy to soft tissue. Freda developed this modality as a result of damage to her hands early in her massage career. The Knobble delivers depth & precision to soft tissue that just can't be obtained by using fingers, hands or elbows. Over time these "tools" can wear out. The Knobble drastically lengthens the career of a massage therapist in addition to allowing the therapist to work muscles in an extremely effective manner. I also assist Freda in teaching continuing education classes to massage therapists, physical & occupational therapists & physical therapy assistants. Freda Whalen has been a massage therapist for over 30 years.
2014 July & October, the Levy Mthod of Neuromuscular Re-Education. Dr. Levy is a chiropractor that teaches a soft tissue technique. This technique utilizes very specific moves on the part of the therapist and patient to effect the desired muscles.
