About Us

Like most people drawn to the professions of helping and healing, I want to positively effect the lives of those I touch. I believe in a holistic approach to health that starts with self care. I am absolutely inspired when I see women taking care of themselves, feeling great and aging beautifully. Many of them are my clients, and they know that massage therapy can be a powerful tool for good health.

Twenty years as a massage therapist is considered a long career, the average is six. For many, working in a continuously quiet environment that requires intense concentration can lead to burn out. Swedish massage is a classic massage that uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits. It will ease your stress and allow you to slip into a calm state of relaxation. However, at Therapy at Hand for Women, I will work with you to create a customized massage. If you are looking for Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy or Myofascial Release we can include those in your session at no additional cost to you.

I believe each of us are given talents and gift that we are meant to use and share in our lifetime. Sometimes, the hardest part is figuring out what they are and how to use them! Massage therapy has been a perfect career path for me because I, like many women, am a nurturer and caretaker at heart. Sharing this gift has been very rewarding to me. Not everyone can work in the quiet environment required in massage therapy. I thrive in the silence of a massage session. I enjoy the deep focus and listening, not necessarily with my ears, but intuitively listening to what my client needs at this moment on my table. I know this is when the deepest of healing can occur for my clients and I respect this time. I enjoy reading all things related to women’s health and aging well. I am inspired when I see women taking care of themselves, feeling well and aging beautifully. This was my first time here and it was enjoyable. I just wanted a massage to relax and it did just that. I could smell essential oils which was soothing and the massage was so relaxing I ended up falling asleep I’d say sometime during the last 10-15min of the service. I would definitely recommend and she is located in the middle of Hartford which for me at least is super convenient.

This was the first time I saw Michelle. She was able to get me in with a couple hours of my call. I was in terrible neck and shoulder pain that was affecting my work and quality of life. In 30 minutes she was able to release the muscles enough to provide much needed relief. Within a half hour of the appointment the pain radiating up my head was gone, by that night I was able to move normally again. I will definitely be seeing Michelle again and will not hesitate to recommend her.

Before this appointment, I was having issues with my right hip. It was so painful that I dreaded having to go up stairs and walking the dog was painful rather than enjoyable. I mentioned my issue to Michelle and she paid particular attention to my lower back and hip area. The problem though started in the muscles on the upper right side (by shoulder blades) and extended to my neck and shoulders as well. After the massage, I was able to walk up the stairs with much less pain. I was very relieved.
