Training Higher Elevations Healing Arts School (HEHAS), now located in Eagle Colorado, was where I took my first steps down this massage path. HEHAS holds small classes to keep the instructor/student interaction at the core of the classroom. The curriculum is built around students having a strong base in both Anatomy and Kinesiology, mixed with resort spa techniques and modalities. Our class had the tremendous honor of having some exceptional instructors. I gravitated towards the postural analysis and gait assessment portions which happened to be taught by a Certified Rolfer®, who also holds a BS in Kinesiology. After I graduated from HEHAS, I continued to follow my interest in Therapeutic or Rehabilitative Massage by training with that very same Rolfer®. Most recently, I obtained a Master Level Orthopedic/Medical Massage certification through Bodywork Education School in Dallas, TX under the instruction of Tamlynn "T.C." Cameron, BS, LMT, MMP who is also a Kinesiologist. Practice Philosophy "I'm not a healer and I'm not a doctor, I'm just a mechanic" - Lauren Berry - I view the body as a machine, with overlapping mechanical systems much like a car or a house. You have your plumbing and exhaust, your engine or power, your frame or structure. Having this understanding allows me to view our systems of movement in a unique way. Kinesiology is "the study of the mechanics of body movements". it's difficult to understand how to work on a car if you don't know how the car operates and how the pieces fit together to make it operate. The body is the same thing in my eyes. How can you mitigate an issue in the rotator cuff without knowing how the rotator cuff fits together or how it operates. It is the goal of Manual Therapy or Therapeutic Massage to alleviate or remediate musculoskeletal issues, not just give you a band-aid. Why I do what I do I enjoy seeing people live a higher quality lifestyle through freedom of movement and reduction or elimination of pain. While not everyone can be "fixed" in the traditional thought of fixed, everyone CAN benefit from Manual Therapy or Massage. A little bit about myself.. Along with a passion for remedial Manual Therapy, and corrective postural applications, I enjoy spending time with my family of girls... my wife and five daughters; studying Martial Arts, and enjoying the outdoors. The State Parks of Texas, East Texas in particular, are a treasure we should all partake in. Martial Arts creates a sense of oneself and an understanding of the discipline and commitment necessary to obtain large and long term goals. My family has given me the opportunity to practice patience. I bring a combination of experience from all the areas of my personal and professional life in order to become a well-rounded therapist.
