The Art of Massage is an independently owned small business that personalizes each session to the needs of our clients. We treat people. Whether you are an athlete, enslaved to your desk, or are attempting to heal from an injury, we welcome you. If you are nurturing your body, mind, and soul and need a safe place to be supported on that journey, we invite you.

We offer a wide range of bodywork modalities including CranioSacral therapy, Myofascial/Connective Tissue Release, Lymphatic Drainage, Trigger Point Therapy, pre/post surgery, injury/trauma rehab, Reflexology and EFT/tapping. Our individualized approach keeps people coming back for over 19 years.

Each client shows up with a unique need for bodywork. Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits. It is a classic massage that will ease your stress and allow you to slip into a calm state of relaxation. Pre-natal massage falls into this category.

Kim is a Certified Massage Therapist, is the founder and owner of The Art of Massage. As a former registered nurse of 7 years, Kim decided to pursue a career in massage therapy by attending the Baltimore School of Massage in 2000. She has discovered her art form that began as a mobile massage practitioner while leading her to gain experience working for other independent practices, to eventually set up shop in a warm and inviting studio in Merrifield. An active member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals, Kim values spiritual development, writing, mountain biking, great hikes, and spending time with her wife and step-kids. She greets her life by infusing every day with some form of fun and adventure!
Everyday I wake up I thank my lucky stars that I get to do what I do for a living. I am grateful and honored that people have invited me into their lives to be a part of their healing and wellness journey. There are those that would contend that my elbow dropped deep into their tender tissue is really coming from a loving place! Truly it is all in the name of healing. Since earning my initial certification and following up with hundreds of hours invested in additional relevant studies, I meet people where they are and commit to being a healthy loving presence for them.

Visiting Kim every 4-6 weeks keeps my back, which is full of chronic issues, from spasming up. Before starting to see her consistently, I used to have back spasms that would put me out of commission once a month. Now I almost never have that happen and if I do, it's because I haven't seem Kim that month! I saw her monthly all the way through a pregnancy, as well, which helped tremendously with my overall prenatal and postpartum comfort levels. Regular massages with Kim have been a critical component of my self care routine for well over a year now and I don't ever plan to stop!
