I happened upon Usui Reiki by accident during a health crises. One of my mother's acquaintances told her she could help me if I was open to it... thus began my Beautiful Journey as a Usui Reiki Master. My first teacher, Brenda, could not officially certify me as a Usui Reiki Master and let me know that upfront. After she finished her training in Hawaii with Usui Reiki Master Hawaya Takata (from Japan), Brenda did not have the final $10,000 payment for her Master's Certificate allowing her to "officially" teach even though she had mastered the ancient healing art. However, at that time I was interest mostly in knowing how and being able to heal myself and my family; it was not about the 'piece of paper'. My second teacher came into my life because my friends had other ideas about what I was supposed to do with my training. They told me that I could no longer keep this Gift to myself and needed to share it with the world. With a new baby in my life, I simply did not have the money to spend on gaining that all important 'piece of paper'. I also did not believe I was ready to "go out into the world" as they would put it. However, my friends found a teacher who would accept me as a student for a discounted rate. I simply didn't know how to say no. I still sat with the knowledge and abilities of Usui Reiki for another 10-14 years before truly making a public debut. Now I have an Alternative Health Spa where I practice and teach Usui Reiki, among other modalities. It has been a beautiful journey. These experiences are why I keep prices low for my Usui Reiki students; for those who truly want or need to learn.
I learned the Neil Asher Technique for Trigger Point in order to relieve and heal from the chronic pain I had lived with since the age of 14. The diagnosis: Arthritis with Pubescent Onset; puberty hormones gone awry. The NAT techniques that I have learned and utilized in my Alternative Health Spa are proven to work... as I applied them to heal myself, friends and family... and now my clients. Returning a Life to Improved Mobility and Reduced Pain is a Gift. On 4/10/18, I achieved the Highest Team NAT Certification Available: Level 3. NAT Trainings are as follows: NAT Muscle Energy Techniques Master Course, NAT Treating Hip Pain and Dysfunction NAT Master Course, NAT Treating Frozen Shoulder, NAT Functional Anatomy of the Pelvis & Sacroilliac Joint, NAT Anatomy of Pain Trigger Point Therapy Master Course.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Fibromyalgia Training, Youth Protective Training.
My Great-Great-Grandmother was a herbal healer and mid-wife in the Wild-West of Nebraska. She learned her trade with the Native Americans on the local reservations. Only one of her ledgers was found recording 80 of the births she attended. It is an incredible piece of family history. This would completely explain my infatuation with flowers and herbal medicine as a child, teenager, young woman and adult... IF I had even known who she was during that time period. My childhood summers were spent in her farmhouse and on her land well after she had passed from this world. I like to think that Her Spirit Guided me to my own Great Work. I did not learn of my Grandmother's Abilities until my 28th birthday. I 'formally' began my training in herbal medicine when my children were born and allergic to every over-the-counter product imaginable. The library became my best friend (the internet was just a baby) as I devoured book after book on the subject. My children thrived with their new "medicines" and I grew closer to becoming the woman I am today. I discovered doTERRA Essential Oils circa 2013 and utilized them for personal healing for about 2 years before joining the doTERRA team. It has become another step in this Journey My Grandmother Has Layed Out Before Me. Gratitude.
My Great-Grandmother is Native American. She was adopted into my Scots-Irish family as an infant along with another little girl, my Great-Aunt. The knowledge of her tribe has long since been lost along with the story of how she came to be adopted. I had about a decade where I really tried to connect with anything of the heritage she was denied in her life; To Re-Connect Her Spirit with Her (Our) Ancestors. A friend of mine who knew (and understood) my journey was able to get me a scholarship for the Native American Medicine Wheel 12 Steps Training. Due to a minor surgery, I missed the training for working with adults, but was still able to complete the Youth Training. This knowledge and the good it can bring into Our Communities as a whole is a Beautiful Thing.
What Can I Say? Walking this Path is My Life and Becoming a Massage Therapist is just One-More-Step in that Journey. :)
For years, the word "Reflexology" was whispered in hidden circles. An ancient healing technique that has more recently been scientifically validated. I had thought maybe one day of trying it out and seeing what it was like, but just never got around to it. When I met my husband in 2013, he just couldn't get enough of rubbing my feet. Over the first 3 years we have been together, he intuitively learned which points to massage in order to achieve balance and pain relief in my body by watching the effects his intuitive techniques. One night I remember asking him to rub my back and he said, "give me your feet". I laughed and said, "but my feet don't hurt." He replied, "I can rub your back, but your feet are what makes the pain stay away; don't ask me why." After one full year of having my feet massaged in this way every night, and LIVING the difference it made in my body, I decided to learn Reflexology after all. To my amazement... my husband had been working the EXACT areas CORRECTLY for relieving my pain. Not only was this a personal awareness of the power of Reflexology, but I have seen similar healing in my Reflexology clients.
I started my journey of Conscious Meditation at the age of 14. From there, it was about learning everything I possibly could and absorbing as many teachings as possible for Meditation, Relaxation, and Spirit-Journey techniques.
I spent about 6 years managing a local chiropractic office, and learning about the Spine & Nervous System. My responsibilities: everything except adjusting patients and accounts payable.
