CranioSacral Therapy is a very gentle form of bodywork, received fully clothed, that evaluates and releases tensions and restrictions in and around the central nervous system (CNS). Through the body we release these tensions and restrictions from the fascial system (connective tissues) as these may be putting unnecessary tension on nerve roots in the spine.
To access the tissues and fluid of the nervous system, we use the bones of the cranium, vertebral column, and pelvis like handles to gently work with the body to balance out the CNS. If one's CNS is functioning to the best of it's ability, the rest of the body often follows suit. This is where we see reduction and/or resolution of long term, chronic issues.
CranioSacral Therapy has its roots in Osteopathic work. We look at the body as a Whole and evaluate for where the root of a problem is stuck in the body. We can then address the root, associated muscle/bone restrictions and then release the nervous system component. It makes for a very complete therapy.
In addition to that, Brian has Advanced training through the Upledger Institute in SomatoEmotional Release. Often, a long held condition has an emotional component. Using therapeutic imagery and dialogue techniques Brian helps support his clients to safely explore the physical AND emotional roots of the symptoms the body is expressing. When the physical and emotional aspects of dis-ease are truly addressed, the condition often goes away and does not return.
Brian received his techniques certification from the Upledger Institute in August of 2008. Shortly after, he met the requirements to be a certified teaching assistant for several Upledger classes including CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release.
He is an approved Upledger study group leader and mentors colleagues in his private practice.
