We come from nature which is natural. So in order to heal we must return to natural; which comes from nature. -SMM

As a young child, I always felt something was missing but I just didn't know what it was. I was born empathetic and struggled not knowing or understanding what that meant for me on a global level. As a young child, I always felt something was missing but I just didn't know what it was. I was born empathetic and struggled not knowing or understanding what that meant for me on a global level. As and adult, I woke up one day and realized I wasn't living at all. In fact, I was just existing and barely surviving. Years went by with endless work hours and a mind-blowing amount of education. And still, I remained stuck on a low frequency. As I continued this state of barely living, I had no answers of why I felt this way, how did things get to this point, or what I could do to change my life. Somedays, I had no clue about what was going to happen next. Honestly, I didn't care about what would happen next. That was until I experienced my very first somatic response.

That's when my real journey began.

With all of my education and life experiences, I was completely unaware of the fact that my current state of being was a result of consistent exposure to microtraumas and my body was keeping score. I was led by the universe to start my journey as a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist. At which time I was very dissatisfied and unhappy with my previous careers. As part of the curriculum, I was required to receive massage therapy in order to learn massage therapy from the inside out. I quickly noticed that after each session, I would sit off to the side in agony, pain, and would often cry at night. I was so confused about how something that was supposed to be so good for me hurt so bad. After confiding in an outside source, I was told that it seemed as if I was having a somatic response to the work that I was receiving and that I should look into somatic practices that would help me to find peace. Willing to have the pain stop, I tried everything I could find and nothing worked except barefoot massage.

In 2015, I received my first barefoot massage as a birthday gift. After the session, I quickly realized that I felt different than when I received regular massage therapy sessions. Intrigued by this drastic change, I made a life commit to learn as much as I could about both somatic response of the body and barefoot massage. Since becoming a LMBT in North Carolina and a LMT in Kentucky, I have mastered Advanced Ashiatsu and developed a program called Somatic Drift. Somatic Drift is a result of my own personal healing process where I used massage therapy partnered with Somatic Experiencing and other holistic modalities to overcome traumatic life events resulting from microtrauma and cumulative trauma. The main goal of Somatic Drift is to assist with creating a continuous slow movement within the body from one place to another by working through the body instead of on or with the body. Since it's creation, I have used Somatic Drift with all of my clients which yielded the results of being able to experience flow and freedom with the body on the tension pattern that was left behind from a traumatic event was resolved.

I'm currently completing my undergrad in Psychology with a concentration in Life Coaching. I enjoy being a forever learner because it keeps me humble by letting me know that I haven't arrived yet. Life is too short for me to waste time doing what I hated doing because it makes a living. Instead, I sought healing, peace, and balance for myself and for those that I am connected to. This allowed me to become the massage therapist that I am for my clients today.
