John 5:6 When Jesus saw him laying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, He asked him,

What a strange question for Jesus to ask this lame man?  After all, wasn't he leaning against the wall just several feet from the pool, a pool known to provide instant healing for any ailment to the first one in when it was churned up supernaturally?  However, his response was surprising to many but not to most.  Rather than a resounding and enthusiastic "yes" he gave a glib excuse as to why he was still there after all of this time.  "Others beat me to it", "My insurance doesn't cover it" "I...

Hi, my name is Gary DeFilippo, LMT.  I am, foremost, a Christian.  I have years of experience in Rehabilitation Massage and a Master's Degree in Mental Health with years of experience in the field.  I have a heart for people and do not like to see them suffer needlessly, nor do I like to hear about people succumb to invasive surgery, particularly because it does not always help.  When I am in line at the grocery store or some public office and see people with braces on their wrists, I cringe.  What an unnecessary apparatus. When I hear someone awaiting surgery for some skeletal muscle disorder I weep.  No not really but it does get to me and I hand them my card and ask them to consider an "alternative" treatment.  While I truly believe that MASSAGE can effectively treat many musculoskeletal (rather than skeleton muscle) disorders in a shorter period of time than some other treatments, (with no chance of making it worse), I do hope that you give my treatments a good shot.  Many will go to a physical therapist for 10-15 treatments or a chiropractor for as many and pay expensive copays yet expect me to lay on them my hands one time and "Hocus Cadabrah" or "Abra Caposis and (wallah) they are healed.  I am A Christian. I am not Christ.  A repetitive stress injury happened over time so your body will need a couple of treatments, not just one.  If getting undressed is an issue, relax, most treatments can be done with gym wear on.  While it's true that traditional massage treatments are done with our clients undressed to their comfort level, my massage treatments require your involvement with active and passive stretching where sheet covering is less preferential.  Your comfort and security are as important to me as your recovery.

They said that it couldn't be done.

I had been working with a 60 something women who suffered a stroke and had muscle contractures effecting her left side. This made her daily activities difficult if not impossible. I would do weekly outcalls to her home. Together we were able to get her arm to fully extend and her hand extended almost as fully. Through physical therapy and Rehabilitative Massage, she was able to walk better and her back bothers her less. I was taught that massage would have little impact on contractured muscles but I am a poor learner. lol
