What attracted you to a career in massage?
I had headaches for 30 years. While working in a corporate environment, a coworker recommended that I really work to get the headaches to cease. That brought me through medical care, chiropractic, and eventually a college for massage when a 3 month headache was resolved in 5 minutes. While I searched for what was available, I found a lot of techniques that have helped my clients over the past 10 years. These days my headaches are gone, and my questing nature helps me troubleshoot physical muscular issues and bring relief to aches and pains of the body. Which school did you attend and which certifications do you hold?
I attended Ashmead College where I obtained a 4.0. Our coursework was challenging. Many people drop out in the year long course due to the stringent testing schedule, but I had good teachers and a lot of motivation.
I have taken the classes for CranioSacral Therapy/SomatoEmotional Release, and have been practicing the techniques for almost 10 years now. CranioSacral Therapy is excellent for those suffering from PTSD, balance issues, unresolved pain, and many more. You can find out more about CranioSacral by visiting Upledger.com
Youthaage is a new technique. It is designed to create better circulation so it is easier to move, easier to lose weight, and produces younger and softer skin. Youthaage is practiced with a Qi'hausr. A Qi'hasur (Qee - Ha - Sur) is a copper massage tool that can be used throughout the body to create better circulation by scooping the tissues of the body effortlessly. It makes the face look younger and more supple, it relieves restrictions in tight IT Bands, and it produces results faster than most other massage tools. We sell them as well here for only $100.00.
What techniques do you specialize in? What issues or conditions does your work help improve?
I specialize in troubleshooting long term physical complaints. I have a variety of techniques and therapies I use but it always depends on who is on the table, and what their body most needs that day. CranioSacral Therapy works with the nervous system. By utilizing the skill of finding where the restrictions are in the body through CranioSacral, it is easy to find what needs work first. If someone comes in not quite knowing what is going on physically, it is not an issue at all.
Through the State of Washington I am certified to work within the mouth which I utilize both manual therapy and CranioSacral Therapy. It is excellent for facial strain and tension, dental issues, and a multitude of other issues that involve the skull and face.
The list of what I utilize is CranioSacral Therapy, SomatoEmotional Release, Youthaage, Swedish, Trigger Point Therapy, Aromatherapy, Myofascial Release, and many others that are all utilized when needed, but not of unnecessary inclusion.
My work has been compared to acupuncture and medications, to name a few. The work has good effects, but everyone is always treated as an individual. There is no putting people in a 'box' here.
