Khammi Hurd, LMT started her massage career in Austin in 2014, but her interest in the body began long before that. She was a painting major at art school in Baltimore, and spent hours drawing and painting the human form before understanding the root of her interest. After moving to Austin in 2009, she began a yoga practice that helped her to become rooted in her own body and begin to understand the body’s capacity to heal itself. She is currently a Registered Yoga Teacher, and is nearing the end of her two year training as a Yoga Therapist. This training informs her knowledge of your posture, breathing patterns, functional movements, and aftercare suggestions. She specializes in (very) Deep Tissue massage and Fascial Cupping, but also practices Prenatal and Relaxation techniques. She believes that pain in the body is not necessarily a negative problem that needs to be numbed out, but a type of intelligence communicating what the body needs to heal. She believes strongly that we all have the internal power to feel better by listening to these subtle communications. Her massages are intuitive and thorough with an emphasis on facilitating feeling better for longer after each session. When she’s not massaging or in school, she spends time painting or being outside with her partner and four dogs.
